Getting Started

If you're new to drums playing but serious about pursuing it, a good basic drum set will be more than sufficient to start with.
The price for a drum set may vary greatly depending on several factors (manufacturer, quality of the materials used,etc.); you can find good deals for new quality sets starting at about $400 but as you progress, you will certainly want to add more equipment - and at that point the sky is the limit. We always recommend starting small with good quality equipment, rather than buying all possible drums and cymbals right away and eventually coming to the conclusion that it was the wrong investment to make. Besides, buying every possible drum or cymbal at once takes away all the fun that comes with slowly upgrading according to your specific skill or acquired technique!
For beginners, we recommend a drum set containing the following elements:

- 1 bass drum
- 1 snare drum (+ stand)
- 1 tom-tom (+ stand)
- 1 ride cymbal (+ stand)
- 1 hi-hat (+ stand)
- a stool or throne
